Final Piece & Final Words (DynA)

Final video:

Add Image

This is my final submission for Dynamic Communications (Semester 1). My seed was birds. My task, was to bring my seed into this environment, and for it to communicate.

The persons bird represents them, emotionally, personality - even favourite colours and looks to that person. I took photo by photo a scene unfolding of a happy girl meeting a sad boy, and cheering him up. The bird, again, reflects the girl and boy. Once the boy cheers up, so does his bird.

Communication between the person <-> bird (Boy and Bird), and bird <-> Bird (They soar together in the skies) is present.

:) Thanks for watching it turn from sketchbook doodles into this. If you're intrested at all (and go to the same Uni as me...) as for my sketchbook :P

Bye for now.

Happy Bird & Sad Bird Final

I watched a really intresting documentry today on BBC2 called "The Pixar Story", telling the history of Pixar, and Animated films. I recommend watching it to other CA students or anyone intrested in 3D or CGI animation, it's really intresting. It is avaliable on BBC iPlayer for a short while.

Another quick blog to show the final images of my two birds, as seen before.

Final Birds:

Final Birds (Photoshop Painting):

Even though these birds are "Final", small things like their tails, and curls, were changed in the final video. I'll have the final video up probably today or tomorrow, and all that's left is to stick it all on CD, and put it through the Submission Box along with my sketchbook.

Can I...relax alittle now? : ) heh.

Crawadavile!

I'll be posting the final video soon!!

For inspiration throughout this project, I watched a program called "Life", episode 'Birds'. It was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. This is a screenshot of the best slow-mo flapping...:
Life - Birds was avaliable on BBC iPlayer for a short while, not too sure anymore. : (

Merry Visuals, and a Happy New Animation...

Quiet Christmas, just worked on Elementary Animation and Dynamic Communication. Having all the pieces in place, my photos taken and my "happy" and "sad" birds designed, I'm nearly finished my Dynamic Communication Bird Project for Semester 1. I'll probably have the final video up soon, seeing as deadline day approches fast :s

Doing them in order, to try and keep the birds colours, positions and size consistent:

Emma - Happy Bird
Calum - Sad Bird.

...And finally, my Computer Art partner in crime and best friend at the Photoshoot:

Ceren & Judy - Stupid Bird & Stingy Bird.

If I fail Dynamic Comm, I'll blame Judy for putting my examiner/"whoever-sees-this-and-gives-me-a-grade" off.

Quicky random upload before I go to bed

Little silly sketches that might be worth uploading. Night for now.

I drew this in the first month of Uni for Dynamic Comm. I thought I was being clever, explaining how I can communicate using IM. It was really just a funny story of me being scared. You can find it in my sketchbook...

Penguin in my sketchbook, expressing my love for...penguins. So much.

Finally, I did this sometime last month in a lecture. I thought "Find your seed, grow and nurture your seed" might make more sense if I drew it. It didn't. Pretty pictures of red apples, though.

Photoshoot

Update: Last week, I attended a Photoshoot for a friend, and took my opertunity to use their fancy SLR camara's for my Dynamic Communnication project.

I'm creating a stop motion video using photos. Here are some of the photos of that photoshoot. (Obviously, some aren't going to be in the final video... :P )

Final Ideas - Link to birds, emotion and soul

I've decided the "final image" showing my understanding of my seed and dynamic communication in the form of...a stop-motion video, using photos and Photoshop.

But first, I needed to investigate some unique birds to create some original birds...

Afew sketches of "Birds of Paradise":

And, drawing some birds based on fantasy, and the birds above:

Anyway, I've started looking into how birds and people can communicate on a different level; emotions and soul. I've looked at old photos I've taken of friends and people, and gave them a bird I felt best suited their personality, with colours that suit them. I created a new layer and using Photoshop CS4, edited in these "soul birds":

Tanya - "Cute Bird"

Ceren & Steph - "Friendship"

Gabby - "Strength/Defense/Will"

These are just ideas and sketches from the last month, so I plan to do something better for the final image.

Birds in 3D

To keep me busy, I built 3D structures for Dynamic Communication, to free the birds from their paper cage. It was also to introduce the birds to new environments/communicate between themselves (bird to bird) and people (bird to people, people to people using birds)/keep my busy...

A slightly different approch...two children, who comunicate with each other with a bird on string...

Not very good at this blogging thing, am I?

I should be updating this everyday with new sketches. Fail.

Okay, so it's close to Chirstmas, and I'm now rushing to finish my deadlines. In particular, for Dynamic Communication. The concept is to find a "seed" and to make it bloom into a final project, which shows communication in a dynamic way between almost anything, be it humans, animals, plants, or inanimate objects.

I chose birds, because of my fasination with them. I also thought they are very diverse and there was so much more to them than first met the eye...

"Hello Ladies."

Like I said, birds were a diverse subject to study. I studied my favourite bird - the Resplendent Quetzal - and how they were once worshiped by the Mayan's.

I found out how the Carrier Pigeon had an important role in WWII, and finally looked at their feathers, and tried to mix some typeography with the birds natural beauty.

And so...I got alittle bored, drawing birds after awhile. It was time to breech and go beyond. I wanted to introduce my birds to an environment, to make them more real, and to now begin introducing them to the concept of communication.

Update on Dynamic Communication tomorrow : )

Thanks for reading.

New to blogging

My name is Ceren Gunes (internet name: The Red Angel) and I am currently a 1st Year studying (Hons) Computer Arts at Abertay University. I've never blogged my life or works before, so this will be quite new.

I really hope you enjoy watching my artworks and see me (hopefully...) get better and (hopefully!) get through these crazy 4 years.

It's going to be fun. : )

Feel free to contact me or ask me questions, I wont bite.
